The Good Friday Agreement 1998. Who envisaged that two years ago the people of the UK would vote to leave the EU. The compromise is the Protocol. But the chaos is now in place. Nothing had been properly planned except that a few elites toyed with an idea of Rule Britannia and the British Empire being re-morphed to play geopolitics on the world stage. The main players included people like Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and now they must take the flack.

Asylum is all they want; war-torn countries and escaping is the only road to freedom; they want to be with other members of the their families and friends who have escaped the horrors of Afghanistan, Syria, Iran.  They arrive in Turkey; they cross the water to where Greece is the EU border and there is supposedly protection for these refugees.  Der Spiegel article this week … the journey and the treatment of people who are protected by European law is barbaric and orchestrated by the Greeks and Turks but on whose command?

Greece shares a 212-kilometer (132-mile) border with Turkey in southeastern Europe. The EU’s external border is a restricted military area and reporters can only enter the area with permission. People from Iran, Afghanistan and other countries seeking asylum try to enter through this border. “In the past year, internal statistics show, every single interviewee has described violent behavior by the Greek border guards.
