Aimee Foley: a name we must never forget. This brave, courageous, inspiring young woman speaks openly to Claire Byrne, Prime Time, about the level of sexual abuse her father imposed upon her over her formative teenage years. He plied her with cannabis, alcohol, he manipulated her and groomed her; he then abused and worst of all he raped her. O’Donoghue, from Ennistymon, did not contest but shockingly the sentence given by the Judge means that this trauma will be revisited on this young woman when he is released from prison in three years time. The DPP must be seen to administer fair justice and this sentence must be over-turned and extended to what is merited for the violation of the purity of a young child who was abused sexually by her father.
