A massive multi-car and house blaze was sparked after a van was set on fire outside a Donnybrook home last night.

Garda investigations are underway after the van was burnt out shortly after midnight.

The blaze quickly spread to two nearby cars and the roof of a home as Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene.

Thankfully they were able to put the fire out before it spread down the house.

The fire happened at the Railway Cottages, with the scene still closed for technical examination this morning.

No arrests have yet been made.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "Firefighters from Donnybrook prevented a roof fire escalating to a fully involved home fire overnight.

"A van was alight causing two other cars to catch fire.

"Due to the proximity to the building the flames spread to the roof of the house causing it to catch fire."

A garda spokesman said: "GardaĆ are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at Railway Cottages, Dublin 4, shortly after 12:30am this morning, Tuesday 1 February 2022, which resulted in damage to 3 vehicles.

"The scene is currently preserved to allow for a technical examination.

"No arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing."
